Artwork
The majority of my artwork centers around the narrative that there are two seperate entities coexisting one mind; one is my outward facing, “rational” persona, a carefully constructed combination of characteristics or qualities that form my character (my personality, effectively), and the other is my “irrational,” emotional, child-like, unsociable and artistic persona, who does not exist outside of the body. The diorama scenes I make illustrate the dreamlike, liminal representations of mind states the inward persona resides in, almost like a safe house that builds or crumbles as moods shift. These records allow the viewer to peek at those places, like one may observe a historical home of a person who has long since died.
Bio
I grew up in rural Massachusetts and attended Maine College of Art in Portland, ME, where I met my husband. I graduated with a BFA in Woodworking and Furniture Design, and headed straight for Los Angeles. These days you can find me making frames at Paradise Framing, creating chainmaille and scalemaille garments, making art in my studio, or eating another piece of candy when I have already had enough.
